The “Classic” backpack model is 2650 cubic inches (43.4 liters) in the same design as the Elite Convertible Pannier Backpack, but without the front panniers/backpack’s side pockets. Conversion is simply a case of sliding out and attaching the backpack’s internal frame to the bike, and removing the shoulder harness and waist belt, before attaching the panniers to the rear rack. External capacity is enhanced by the generous capacity of the vertical compression straps. Both the Elite and Classic pannier backpacks now come with the “Piggyback Sack” included as standard for carrying the shoulder harness while riding the bike, though a second is also possible to order if required.
Please note that the Classic model does not feature the hardware for accommodating the front panniers, and therefore will never be “upwardly compatible”. If you think you will need front panniers, you should take a look at the Elite Convertible Pannier Backpack system.
The color option images for these products have been digitally synthesized for illustrative purposes – please be aware that for this reason they cannot be aligned 100% with the ‘real thing’ and some variety will occur. We enjoy producing packs in a variety of colors, and recently found some small pieces of fabric that would be enough for only one pack each, but we made them, because, COLOR! We’re calling this one “Aquamarine” or just “Aqua”, also “Merlot”. Classic only. The website is not set up to sell these colors, so email us at email@example.com if interested. Same story with Cranberry, except it is also available as an Elite – limit 1 each.
